Rough idle, power loss while driving

Runs great most of time. Sometimes rough idle, especially after driving a while then sitting at a traffic light. Sometimes loss of power while driving (loses 5 to 10 mph); can overcome if depress accelerator a lot, usually have to go through loss/recovery a few times. Removed cat.conv - improved at high speeds but still not fixed. Ideas?

My tractor loads up at idle bad how do I repair

if its a gas powered engine , id be looking at the low speed /idle jets in carb , also can be a miss matched float /bowl arrangement in carb (if parts were ever changed) , a super dose of auto grade fuel system cleaner sometimes saves a ton repairing and rebuilding on these , especially on infrequent used engines that sit for long times

Runs rough idle

your idle valve may be dirty or needs replacing would check this as it controls idle. sits on the intake with wires coming out of it.

Idling is too slow at 500 rpm.......think about at least 650 rpm to charge the battery and keep up inertia for better take-off power.
Find out how to increase rpm,whether it's a screw-stop adjustment or a timing problem. don-ohio (:^)

Heater stopped working loss of coolant and rough Idle

I had a similar experience. Finally the car started overheating. Turned out the thermostat went bad and the radiator blew a leak. Had those replaced. Runs great.

Idle good when cold, hotter it gets the worst it idles especially when sitting at stop lights

simple test for a vacuum brake booster
star and run the engine at idle without applying the foot brake
if it gets worse when the foot brake is applied , it is a vacuum leak in the booster ( replace the booster )
otherwise check for failed vacuum hoses including under dash control lines , vacuum leak at the manifold or EGR unit
