I have a 1998 chevy 2500 4x4 6.5 diesel pu.truck starts and seems to run normal ,maybe a little loud, i heard chevy diesels this year are louder than fords etc. blows a little white smoke at startup some times at idle not alot though ive seen gas engines w/bad head gaskets blow white smoke but alot heavier.problem is oil dipstick shows about 4 or 5 qts overful and coolant low . i drained all oil and coolant from engine and rad.new oil and filter in engine new antifreeze in rad . i ran the engine for about 15-20 minutes tops.shut it off ,checked the oil, same situation 4-5 qts over full coolant low , no real smoke while running also seemed to be oil in rad.,i dont know diesels but i thought if it was head gaskets it would miss or blow heavy white smoke.

The head gaskets are blown you can believe that anytime on any engine gas or deisel that you get oil in the radiator and there water/ antifreeze in the oil pan the gaskets and or cylinder heads are bad

My 2001 Silverado 1500 Extended cab LS produced a loud "whirr" noise that almost sounds like a big diesel truck or something from inside the engine compartment during the first few minutes of...

Try slipping the drive belt (fan belt, alternator belt, or whatever you want to call it) off the engine, then run the engine momentarily without the belt. If the noise disappears, at least you now know it is not an internal engine problem, and it will be an issue with one of the pulleys, or belt-driven accessories.

2005 trailblazer sounds like a jet at startup. It goes away after 15 seconds oe so. can i fix this?

Depends, these trucks had problems with this, the noise you here is the electric air pump, it can be a little noisey, it should sound like a smooth jet engine bad as it starts going bad it gets a little louder but can still last a while (ayear or two), when it goes bad the engine light will come on, if its not too loud a wouldnt worry about it, even a new one will be heard, maybe not as loud but there noisey, it runs on start ups for a few sec -20 -30) hope this helps. good luck.

The oil pressure gauge in my 2002 Duramax Diesel engine PU increases during acceleration and returns to normal following acceleration. Why would this happen?

That is normal. As you accelerate and rpm's increase the oil pump rpm increases. I think the oil pump runs 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 with the crankshaft rpm. Check the oil and inspect for any visual leaks if the gauge does not operate like that consistently. If it is intermittent or it just started acting that way, the sender my be bad. Other than that any Chevy Dealer will say that is normal.

Need to change glow plugs on a mercedes C220D 1998

dont bother too much with thebullshit recipe .mercedesbenz were built in a cold country and have the cold start tecnique off pat .you need to establish if all the glow plugs are working .,if the engine misses and runs rough when it does start then the glow plugs are not all working but you need to test them with a test light and i would be inclined to think you will need to replace them. do them all as the ones that do work will stop soon.they all seem to go around the same time------------"youdoit "

Just puchased a 1998 trooper runs loud

It sound like you have a timing belt tensioner that is bad. Is the noise at the front of engine? If it is replace tensioner, timing belt and water pump. The pump is driven by the timing belt.
