Turns out the problem was a broken wire at a junction below the carpet below the drivers seat. Took my mechanic 4.5 hours to fix it nightmare had to take seat out handbrake lever etc to get to it!!

when your problem happened did the little box under the drivers seat make a clicking noise and the centrel locking would not work, but the indicators would light up all around and stay on?, if you could e mail me an answer to [email protected] it would be much appreciated thanks dave

How to open a deadlocked rear door.

Hi. remove the rear seat and door pad. You can access the lock through a small hole, break the top inner corner of the lock and it will release the dead lock and open the door.

I have a 57 plate 3 series, the doors will nit unlock but will lock with the remote, also the passenger door and rear doors have deadlocked, can you help?

Hi , this sounds like the fuse has blown for the central locking due to a hi amp draw from a fault lock , depending on the country that you are in you will need to find the fuse for the central locking , for european cars the fuse will be #57 or #72 it will be a 15amp fuse that will nead to be changed to a yellow 20 amp fuse , once the blown fuse is replaced , insert the romote key in its slot and turn the ignition on , then remove the key , open and close the drivers door and the central locking should then work , if this fault re-occures then 1 or more door lock will nead to be replaced, hope this is of some help , regards mark.

Central locking has stopped working properly and I can not open any door other than the drivers door and that is with the key. This has been like this since the alarm went off on its own and would not...

The alarm will time out and turn itself off after a minute or two when it is tripped. This turns off the alarm, not just the alarm horn.

Are you saying that you can't unlock a door from the inside by hand?

Peugeot 406 HDI 2001. O/S rear door dead locked.

Deep joy. This can be a royal pain. The only way I have successfully done this is to put a battery charger on the car overnight, locked, and then when the battery is sitting at about 15v unlock it with the remote - when the lazy deadlock is stirred into action. It can take a couple of attempts. It really is incredibly difficult to get to. Otherwise, its most easily a case of breaking the unit...though you could try taking the leads off and applying 18v to the solonoid directly. That was my next move, but never needed to get there. You can however stop the deadlock from locking, by cutting one of the wires, test using a multimeter which one is live when you arm the alarm/deadlock the car. Thats also the one to apply 18v to if you want to.

Imobiliser problem

If im not mistaken, your car should have an alarm reset/override.Below the steering column,on the dash should be a slot where you put your remote transmitter to deactivate the alarm. If that works, you then need to have your remote checked and coded by a vw dealer.Good luck.
