The chain could be worn - check it before you suspect anything else... dont go off the mileage - lots of things can make a chain or belt wear prematurely, have it checked to be on the safe side.
=======
Try cleaning the area around the timing chain of all grime and oil, and re-oil the timing chain with the reccomended lubricant.

What will happen if the timing chain on a 2005 mazda 3 snaps willit ruin motor

Yeap sure would but why will it snap, chains last along time I only replace a chain if it gets a bit stretched and starts to rattle and then I usually rebuild the motor, rings, bearings, valve grind, water pump and any thing else while its a part and looks like it needs a birthday, but if you just want to keep it going and compressions good and oil pressures good I have just done the chain to quiet it done and done thousands of miles with no problems every engines got its own problems to figure out. cya Neil

Code p0305

check your pcm module to make sure it functioning right, they usually have a warranty from the factory up to 80,000 miles. Also, check all of your coils, and plugs. If all that checks out you may have the same problem I had with mine at 66,000 miles which is unusual. Which is it may be the timing chain. The dealership said it's strange, but mine was stretched. I haven't had the problem since then. It was the timing chain the entire time which caused the problem

At what mileage does the timing chain need to be replaced? jeep wrangler 2008,3.8 L 6 cil.80,000 miles

You change the timing chain now when your Jeep has indicated from a check engine light on. The timing chain in engines these days last as long as the engine will, there is a timing chain tensioner to ensure there is no slack.
When the timing chain has gotten stretched to much, your Jeeps PCM will indicate that with a check engine light on your dash and will be indicated with a DTC codes from a scanner.
So no worries about replacing your timing chain and keep up the regular maintenance, if you have a Mechanic tell you other wise, there just looking for money and your looking for more then just a timing chain being replaced.
You can bet that chain, chain tensioner, timing gears, water pump and might even throw in a cam replacement will be in his recommendation.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe.

Should you replace the timing chain in a 1995 2wd pickup and if so how often

timing chains in most cases never need be repalced for the life of the engine, timing belts on the other hand last about 60,000-100,000 miles.
