I bought my girlfriend a new kenwood cd player for Christmas and hooked it up. Everything works but no sound comes from the speakers. I hooked all wires up using the factory wires via an aftermarket wiring harness. If I bypass all the cars wiring I get sound but nothing otherwise. I checked the Bose audio fuse and it seems functional but what am I missing.
i did follow the directions correctly. the new radio works i have the same one in my truck. but the speakers dont work using the factory OEM wiring, but do if i run new wires to them. I am trying to avoid rewiring the entire car.i did follow the directions correctly. the new radio works i have the same one in my truck. but the speakers dont work using the factory OEM wiring, but do if i run new wires to them. I have a 2008 Silverado and noticed my chime was not working. They work off the front door speakers. Found out GM put the cheapest speakers on the market in them. Bought a new pair of Kenwood speakers from Crutchfield and installed them last week. They sound great. I will probably install Kenwood's in the rear doors since it's only a matter of time before they die too.
I ran into the same problem with my mustang. Your vehicle uses a common ground for the speaker wire. Modern cd players have a safety mechanism that cuts power to the speakers if an improper ground or short is detected. Run new speaker wires to your speakers. Make sure you don't run a screw through them when putting everything back together. Just one speaker wire shorted out will kill power to all four speakers.
Is your IP Bus cable on the INPUT and not the OUTPUT ? I know it sounds funny, but usually(95%), that's the case. If it's in the wrong plug, you'll have power and a display, but no audio. That's why your getting data but no audio.
On many cars there is an exterior amp that the sound goes through before it is sent to the speakers. If the remote turn on wire isnt connected after you take your previous cd player out then the amp wont know when to turn on and therefore no sound will come from your speakers although your cd player is doing its job.
