2004 gmc Denali fuel indicator

Over past two days, my fuel indicator has been irratic from past full to past empty. I filled up today and it was on full for 5 minutes then dropped below empty. It stayed there. Went to express place who advised I buy entire fuel pump assembly stating you cannot buy the sensor separate. They did not ask how car was riding or look at anything under the hood. Any advise? We're on a tight budget. Thanks!

There was not an official recall from GM but I yelled and scream until I had GM service center replace mine in 2008 on my 2004 Yukon XL. In 2007 a class action settlement qualified certain owners for a special coverage adjustment for allegedly defective speedometers. See http://www.gmspeedometerrecall.com/
for the details. I suggest you bug GM corporate offices if the dealer tells you no. The cap on this was 70,000 miles. Just google this problem you will see how wide spread this is. I took me more than six trips in the dealership but it was finally replaced for free. Good luck.

I have a 2004 Yukon XL Denali. The service engine light turns on when the gas tank level is around down to 3/4 of a tank. When I fill the gas tank for full the light turns off. Back on again when the fuel...

Take the truck to an Autozone parts store, they might do it other parts stores too, they can read the codes in the computer and let you know what's going on. There sholud be a code stored even though the light is off. I don't know why the fuel level would cause the light to come on.

2007 GMC Envoy - Gas gauge showing empty and check engine light

This is a safety feature that the vehicle brings. You need to reset the E.C.U on dealership or it will keep doing it to you. It was probably caused by one single time that you did not closed the fuel cap correctly. Good luck

My 2000 gmc fuel gauge will sometimes go from full to empty causing the low fuel light to come on. Also it does not ever go below 1/2 tank mark.

needs the fuel pump assembly....gauge sender is incorporated in this module...pretty expensive but the only alternative is to fill it up and reset your trip odometer each time...you should be good for 250 miles or better before next fill up!! good luck!

Fuel gauge problems

Remove the sender wire from the fuel tank and short it to ground (metal part of tank).

If the fuel gauge goes to full then your sender unit is faulty and replace it.If not ,please come back to me .

Please leave positive feedback if you feel I have helped you.

Thank you

There isn't any fuel getting to my truck and it won't start

No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.
