Some of these cars did not come with this option, as it had to be asked for. My 2001 Exped. don't have a cabin filter. But these can be installed at the dealer ship. So be sure yours have it.

There could be many reasons for it stalling out at lights. The first things I would check is the battery and alternator. The auto parts stores will check both for free.
The first thing i would do is change the cabin air filter. If the smell is something like rotten eggs, it may be a catalytic convertor issue. if this is the case, you should have a check engine light on. Also check your battery and see if it swollen. if it is it may be releasing gasses
