I've took upon myself the task of rebuilding my 4L60e automatic transmission, for the first time ever messing with an automatic. I've changed out clutches and pressure plates in manuals, but that's as far as it goes. However, I am determined to accomplishing this tremendous feat. Here's the problem; three of us took the tranny out and disassembled it and now I am left alone to reassemble it. I know many of you, as you read this, are reaching for some tissues to dry your eyes for the terrible demise that I'm in. So if any feel moved to provide as much information, especially pictorial diagrams of the tranny, parts, and order of assembly for a 4L60e automatic transmission, you will have my undying appreciation. Sincerely, Thomas

You will also need instruction of the ball bearings mounting areas in the valve body too. Good luck in your search

I need a free manual , to rebuild a automatic transmission in a 1990 ford Bronco w/351 engine. and how to remove and and rebuild. doing this myself. Any step by step manuals for this beginner?

Rebuilding automatic transmissions properly requires a lot of time, skill, training and experience to get it right. A beginner will have little success in making a lasting repair. I have known of experienced professionals fail to fix them properly. An exchange transmission would be the best option, although more expensive, as you should get a warranty and will be out of action for only a short time.

Tramission prom

Take it to a transmission shop that has a Tech 2 scanner. The tech 2 scanner will not only scan the transmission but can also recalibrate the shift points. Other reason to why it wont shift under WOT it low transmission fluid pressure so check the fluid level and have a pressure test done on the line.
The 4L60E is a great transmission but there are some things that don't work well with them like some shift kits. The ECM is program the shift points which get's messed up if done wrong. best upgrade on the 4L60E was to swap out the servos for corvette servos or after market performance one's all for under $100.00 and in most case better then a after market shift kit.
Good luck and hope this help. take care not to burn up the transmission.

I lost reverse.. in my 98 chevy blazer... 2 wheel drive...

The transmission is a 4L60E. The best bet is to see how much a transmission shop would to be rebuild it. Rebuilding a transmission is a daunting task and professionalism is something you need for transmissions. I have worked on many cars trucks and semis and a transmission is one of those things you have to bear a brunt of getting done by someone else. If you do not need your blazer for every day driving rebuilding a transmission is a good thing to learn just remember to take pictures of everything and mark and lable and bag and tag everything. I wish you the best of luck!
