A light came on the dash that is a red box. Inside the box is a down-pointing arrow, right above a wavy line. I can't find the manual to identify which fluid is low, or empty. This evening, all the dash lights dimmed to completely off but I was still able to drive the car; the engine didn't seem to be affected.

It sounds like maybe a bad alternator i'm not sure exactly about the light but it could mean low charge or low battery you can have the alternator tested at auto zone or advance auto or which ever auto stor you have in the area i believe walmart tests batterys too not sure tho i would also check the battery cbles and cables going to the motor and altenator plus ground wires if you can to do so just follow the red wire from the battery to the alternator and so on to check cables if any of this is not it check your coolant level too!!
Look on yahoo for warning lights for saturn it will likely list your light and from time to time the cause
