The best way is you get a $7.95 harness conversion kit from Crutchfield with the radio, so you just plug them in, car plug to Alpine plug. Also, don't forget that many units are monitored and operated by the BCM although a 2003 is probably too old.

Your local GM service center should be able to print you off a wiring diagram for what you need. It might be easier to see if there is a truck in a local salvage yard and replace the dash harness with a used one

Get yourself an adapter harness. they are less than $20 and you will save yourself the biggest headache trying to figure out the wiring

every 3-4 thousand miles like oil if you want maximum millage and life for your engine

I did the same thing with ppl tailgating me.... I had a relay and you hook the acc to the relay... grounds... and 12V switch wire.... splice a wire from the cargo light source to the relay... this will turn on whatever you want to hook up to the relay....

Unfortunately, you will need to get to a transmission shop a.s.a.p,
because there is a good possibility you "tranny" is about to "go out".
Be sure to carefully check the transmission fluid level right now.
If you have only 300 to go, perhaps you might rent a car to finish your trip whilst someone fixes the problem.
