Hood support rod, ground out on the battery, engine wont run

The hood support arm, when the hood is open. hit the battery, positive, and the car shut down. What do I need to do, to get it up and running again? The lights and radio and everything still work, but when you get it to start, it will not run.

My car wont go in park. how do you adjust the transmission linkage?

From Underneath the vehicle.. It is connected to the transmission arm via a set bolt and rod. If the rod is bent or the arm is damaged . It will not go into park or shift at all. This happens usually if you run over something that is high enough to scape or hit the bottom of the vehicle.. You will need two people ...one to put the lever in the proper position and the other put the transmission arm in park and set the rod the setscrew in place .. Nine times out of ten it is damaged and you will have to replace it.

Its a 1993 dodge colt vista se we shut off the engine & know it just turns over but wont start

Probably lost either spark or fuel to the engine. Try starting it with starting fluid into the intake. If nothing happens, check for spark on a spark plug wire- probably the ignition system. If it runs for a second or two with starting fluid, it is a fuel problem-check fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is still working.

Need to jumpstart my 2006 hhr, key is stuck in ignition, how do I open hatch to get to battery

The ignition key will not come out of the ignition cylinder with a bad battery. There are jump post to the battery so you do not have to remove the battery cover to jump the car. Once you open the engine hood, look at the battery cover and look for the positive jump post, it will be marked and the ground will be anywhere you can ground the jumper cable in the engine bay. Once you have the engine running or you connected the jumper cables with the other car running, you can remove the key's from the ignition. Good luck and take care not to damage the pass lock system in your ignition lock.

Hit a deer and my 96 Plymouth Grand V oyager wont start why?

If it is that the starter will not turn the engine to start the engine, check and see if the battery is busted, and check the battery for 12 volts, check the cables at the battery to see if they were knocked loose. Also check for body ground to battery and engine block.Follow the positive cable from the battery to the starter, and make sure it is attached, look at the starter to see if the small wire is still attached. If it is just turning over and will not crank up.The computer may have took to much of a jolt, and is damaged. It is under the hood.

My 2000 ford explorer suddenly wont start... the battery was relpaced less than 6 months ago. the key turns but nothing happens, no dash lights or any starting sounds, and at the same time my hood does not...

does the battery have a full charge to it? If so clean battery terminals and chck battery cable at starter make sure its getting good contact. Make sure battery ground is making good contact at engine. Can you jump the car off? If so take off positive battery terminal while the car is running if the car dies altenaters bad replace it.

I need to jump my battery the trunk wont open for me to access it

check under the hood for a red cap over a stud looking rod, that would be your battery positive jumping rod, then just ground it to a suitable clean grounding spot away from any fans, belts or pully's

93 lumina van wiper motor starts but wont shut off

The routine (resistor) that shuts off the wipers and parks them correctly is in the wiper motor, not the switch. I assume your switch is good since you make no complaints about its movement. One thing to check before replacing wiper motor is to loosen the wiper arms, and let the motor park itself in what you feel is the bottom of windshield position. Now align the wipers and retighten.

If these get positioned wrong after, say, a frozen morning, this will affect parking of wipers since motor "park" is no longer in synch with wiper arm "park."

Otherwise, if wiring and positioning are correct, I recommend replacing the wiper motor itself.
