I had a spare key cut using the regular (dealer) car key. The spare key will open the car door, but will not start the car (the original key starts the car just fine). I had multiple spare keys cut, all with the same result. The engine chugs, but won't catch.
Key must be made by the dealer and programmed to the vehicle. There is a chip in the key that the antitheft system must read to start the engine. Any key blank with matching cut can open the door, no chip necessary
It will not start ,end of story ,remove the shroud around the ignition lock and you will see a coil around the lock ,using the key that works it.tape this key to the coil and refit shroud, then you can use the all the keys without paying a fortune for a spare ,JUST DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE ,
