That's wired for sure. Most times a car won't start easy is it's flooded but hard when it's fuel injected. My first guess would be check the spark plugs or replace them. I am wondering do you have the same problem if you drive the car for awhile 20 mins. Stop for 1 min to get a snack and then try starting and see if it has the same problem. It may be a hot engine start issue if it does. When removing the gas cap do you hear pressure release when the cap is coming off.
You never leave a car running, as it will overheat the Exhaust Converter When you run out of fuel, you sometimes ruin the Fuel Pump It depends on gas to lubricate it,as strange as it sounds Check fuel pressure & volume at the motor with a gauge
Check the filling tube (or hose) going to fuel tank for damage. Could be the "ball" just inside the tank where the filling tube is attached. Its there to prevent fuel from draining out of the tank in the event of a roll-over. Tap on the tank in the area around the filling tube with a rubber mallet. This should "unstick" the ball. They do sometimes get stuck and wont let fuel into the tank.
No there is NO vent tube on the fill hoses on the trailblazers!!! It is just a 1 inch hose with a one way directional valve built into the lower rubber hose assembly that is fastened to the filler neck on the tank. These tanks utilize an electric solenoid actuated vent valve that is on the back side of the tanks. When the key is off, the electric solenoid is switched back to the open position to allow the vapors of the tank to escape the tank. This is a common problem of them sticking sometimes and not opening to let the tank vapors out while you are filling it. That is why sometimes you get pressure escaping when you release the gas cap. This valve should be replaced or at least cleaned. Do NOT use compressed air to blow it out!
there is an anti-syphoning screen inside the filler tube. The screens can get plugged up. To remove filler neck, there are three screws by the gas cap, and another 3 on the tank. Not hard at all. Just make sure your tank is less than 1/4 full
