Usually you need one operating one with the replacement and take it to a Jeep dealer

Yes you can. On the back of the remote there will be a tiny screw remove that and pop it open and take the old battery out. Some remotes just pop open and dont have a screw. Most take a round flat battery and you can get them at any store.
