There is a vacumn shift motor on your front passenger side axle that slides an internal collar connecting your inner and outer axle halves. these are notorious for problems. check it to make sure it is working.

The hubs on the front wheels have a lock, turn this in the direction indicated by the arrow to lock the hub. When your'e done with 4x4 unlock the hubs again, they may be hot after a harsh or long drive in 4x4 so be aware of this.

you have to go to the front wheels, turn the thing in the middle to LOCK

2007 auto wrangler, went to put it in 4 wheel drive & the shifter moves freely & won't go into 4 wheel drive. This happened the 1st time I took it out, but there was resistance when I went to

why not RTM , read the manual

first what are you driving on, we DONT KNOW.

1: dirt. mud, grass rocks , clay, sand. off road?

2: ICE or solid snow?

3: or non iced pavement

PART time 4wd is for 1 or 2, and never 3

only AWD works on #3, or you WILL damage the drive line.

see stop driving...... here.

NO, the issues is with you.

they wont tell you the truth to be polite and take your wasted cash or time.

RTM

your car has NO CENTER DIFFERENTAL

wiki 4wd, and read, its all there, all versions, and all the rules.

I have and 08 wrangler and a Japanese jeep and have had 5 jeeps now.

not one is AWD. nada. and never pretend it is.

ever.

that is what the PART means,,,,,

you can use it part of the time and never on hard pavement.

(one guy said, i can do it going straight and i said, ever seen a road that dont turn, yeah)

Four wheel drive engages and kicks out, light comes on and stays on and then kicks out the transfer case shifter

I would suspect you have a bad wheel speed sensor or a speed sensor defective... do you have an ABS/CheckEngine/4 wheel drive light on somewhere on the vehicle display... That might help fix the problem.

Under the hood fuse box lay out diagram

same fuse, you need to put truck in nutral and let it roll to engage four low. if this doesn't work your shift motor is tired.

sounds like either a fuse or the do u have locking hubs that need to be engaged also when using 4 wheel drive there is actually only 2 wheels turning usually passenger front and driver back sometimes u also have to drive backwards to engage and also disengage 4 wheel drive finally it may be a transfer case problem check drive shafts and u joints make sure they are engaged

4 wheel drive doesnt work.

Has this Jeep been modified at all?
It sounds like the shifter cable was reinstalled backwards.
Specifically the 4-Low "Not Climbing Well". 4-Low should give you the best torque and hill climbing ability.
Do you feel any "Binding" in the steering wheel (difficult to turn)?
Remember a Jeep uses real driveshafts and differentials to give you 4WD - you cannot engage 4WD or 4-Low on dry hard surfaces. It needs a little bit of slip between the wheels for turns.
Check you're fluids too.

1998 Jeep wrangler s/spot stuck in 4 wheel drive

This sounds like the linkage could have fallen or broken off. Have someone move the 4wd shifter while you look under the vehicle.
