Starting Problem I have a 2000 Dodge caravan sport. Several months ago I started having problems starting the vehicle. When i turn the key, nothing happens, no clicking. the dash lights do come on. Usually starts after several attempts and runs fine once running. There have been 2 occasions when it would not start. Started immediately when I hooked up the battery charger. I have had the alternator tested and replaced the battery. Was fine for a month after replacing the battery but then problem started again.

Probably a bad starter as well. A good battery can make a marginal starter work, but over time the battery will be weakened by the drain of the starter or the starter will get worse.

Remove the starter and take it to your local parts store for testing and replacement. Bring your battery along as the bad starter might have toasted it.

Also a bad battery can wear out a starter quickly.

We had issues like this with our pickup truck a few years back. Replaced the battery, worked okay for a while, then the replaced the starter, worked okay for a while, then the battery was bad. Eventually replaced both and haven't had any issues since.

So when replacing one it is a good idea to check the other.

2001 dodge grand caravan sport 3.8 L V-6 it won't start ,after my mom's husband took all relays out to clean the carbon an dirt off them. They have took off the battery post to reset brain , no start

the removing the relays was to fix the starting issue?? or did doing that, start the starting issue?
non starting means that the starter motor turns the engine over or when you turn the key to start, nothing at all happens?

Common problem with this vehicle is the starter relay(part of starter motor)When they go bad the vehicle will not start or turn over. You should get an audible click when it fails.

I have a hard time starting my 2000 dodge caravan. It will turn over but the wont start right away, I have to hold the key for several seconds before it will start. Is this a fuel pump issue?

You may download the system when the engine is not used too long you might have problem with the coolant sensor that sends a signal to the PCM when the engine is cold to inject more fuel. Thanks

2000 dodge grand caravan sport. starting problems

Turn the key over 3x. Don't turn it far enough to engage starter, just run postion. Listen for the fuel pump to stop running each time you do this. Now at the fourth attempt, go ahead and start it. Does it start right up now? If it does, have the fuel pressure regulator tested, maybe replaced as needed. It maybe allowing fuel to go back to the gas tank and that is not suppose to happen. If this doesn't solve it, You will need to have the fuel pump checked for consistant pressure; rather not allowing fuel to leak bad to the tank. They have a check ball in the pump that sometimes fails.

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan does not start

could be the starter but could also be a relay that is not working properly. the relays are under the hood. you would have to have someone under the hood and someone turning the key at the same time to see if the relay is working. if it works every time you turn the key then its probably the starter.

Intermittent starting on 2000 grand caravan

First problem, the starter may be starting to go, the second problem is a courtesy light switch problem in one of doors, most likely the sliding door.
