2012 Mazda 5 won't start - starer and battery seem OK, the starter cycles, lights etc. work. Gas tank is full, car worked fine yesterday.

When you turn the key to start, what happens ? Does the engine turn over and not start ? Or does it not do anything ?

When you say that the starter seems ok, have you tested it ? Did you jump starter/solenoid and see if the engine turns over ? Are you getting power to the starter when turning the key to the start position ?

Shifter works when car is off, start car and then shifter won't go in gear. if i start vehicle in first with clutch pedal to floor, car starts going forward. mazda miata mx-5 just put new slave cylinder in...

The one item I would suspect is the through-out-bearing not completely disengaging the pressure plate from the fly wheel. If the vehicle is in neutral and you slowly depress the clutch and release it do hear a singing or whining sound? Since you cannot adjust the clutch any more the through-out-bearing is the component which moves the pressure plate from the fly wheel to stop the power from the engine to the transmission. It is difficult to shift when the engine is on because the fly wheel is still engaged and powering your transmission.

Will not go into gear

The hydraulic clutch command has failed - either at the pedal pump or at the clutch cylinder. Verify first that the line to the clutch cylinder isn't severed; if it isn't the disconnect it, plug it so it doesn't leak and try to press the pedal -if you can the the pedal pump is faulty, if you can't it's the cylinder.
Either replace the corresponding seals or replace the entire part.

Scraping noise when off gas and clutch is out

either the throw out bearing has failed ot the clutch plate hub has failed
possibly from the clutch plate being installed incorrectly and the hub springs are hitting on the flywheel bolts
