Heater problem:- LR Disco 1996

Heater problem:-
Heater not been geting hot for a while now, only ges slightly warm and only when on the move when stopped at lights etc it cools down.

Let me tell you what I have done and what it isn't

System flushed therefore i assume it is not a blockeed heater matrix

Not a cylinder head problem this was negated during a recent overheating issue

Water pump was checked and seems to be ok

New Thermosat fited 3 months ago(I appreciate this could be faulty have got a new one just in case and tested it and it opens)

No water leaks either inside ot outside the car

All hoses hot

Think that is it

Hope to hear from you

Having same problem with mine. I am replacing the thermostat tomorrow to see if that works. Put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. Drive down the highway a few miles in the cold weather. If heater warms up, replace the thermostat and you should be good to go.

I have an 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE i live in ND and the heater only blows luke warm air while at full operating temperature. I replaced the thermostat and flushed the heater core which seemed clean....

Sounds like it's the air control flap which determines the mix of heated and fresh air. This could be vacuum controlled or manually with a cable.

Heater blowing slightly warm air, but certainly not hot enough for pa winters. what should i try to fix first?

You may have to replace your heater core . Heater cores are kinda like you outside ac unit and if you stand by it you can feel all the hotter air blowing from it to the cooler atomosphere!!!! So basicly your heater core are alumminum fins that your blower pushes recycled heated motor air through', and into the cab . Maybe the blower is weak . Check your fuses and hoses!!!!

You probably have air in the system. Take off the radiator cap and start the engine. Turn the heater on hot. Let it warm up and fill the radiator as the level drops. Make sure the thermostat opens and coolant is flowing in the radiator. Continue to add coolant until the level stops dropping. Also check for any bleed ports on the hoses or housings where they attach. If you see any bleed ports, crack them open and let any air out. Put the cap back on and see if the heater is working. If this doesn't work, please get back to me.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee is blowing cold air for the first 30 minutes of my ride home (20-degree weather), then warms up slightly but never gets hot -- i'm guessing heater core (it has 200k+ miles)

It is most likely a thermostat. As your car gets older the thermostat begins to lose its spring like properties and stays open all the time causing your car to never warm up.

If you can't tackle right away, start your car in the morning and let it run for about 15 minutes to warm up. Be sure to turn the heat on full blast and recirculate the air.

Try spraying into the latch with a lubricant like WD-40. Also spray a little into the key hole itself. Don't be shy when you do the latch and move the nozzle around to reach different areas in the latch. Hope this helps.
