I replaced my 08 accord wheels with an 09 accord v6 wheels, both has TPMS. my TPMS light stays on now. how can i reset the TPMS to correct this problem... really hate having the dumb light stay on forever!!!
Re: i replaced my 08 accord wheels with an 09 accord...
Thank your gorvernment. they required auto makers to implement some sort of tire pressure monitoring system in all vehicles. More than likely what needs to be done is a re-initialization of the sensors. it will most likely need to be performed by a dealer.

Normally, correcting low tire pressure will re-set the system and light will go off, however, if TPMS units inside wheels get low batteries, light will stay on. Very common for these units to be replaced when you buy new tires.
tpms sensors have small battery inside rim which last 5-7 years then tpms all need to be replaced with new ones could cost between $50-$100 per wheel as tires have to be opened to access tpms.
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
TPMS = Tire Pressure Monitoring System
The TPS is located on the Engine and is part of the Intake System
The TPMS is located INSIDE the Wheel. If you changed the RIM or the Sensor that is normally located inside the wheel is missing, it would cause this. The Weird Noise? Is that an Out of Balance Tire?
To reset the tire pressure monitoring system AKA TPMS, take the following steps:
1. Put your vehicle in park on a level surface
2. Turn the ignition to ON
3. Press and hold the TPMS button until the TPMS light blinks twice-the collaboration will begin
4. It would take about 30 minutes of driving at speeds of 50 to 100 KMH for the calibration to finish
5. Once, done, the light will go away
Your local parts dealer may have a hand held diagnostic computer that can be connected to your vehicle, and the code can be cleared. Most of the time, they will do this for free.
Check ALL including the spare tire for proper air pressure. If all is well then check the fuse for the TPMS module. If all is well there, off to the dealer you may have to go.
unfortunely not The system is monitered by the WCM (wireless control module). you would have to install the TPMS on the new wheel. You can just swap them from the other wheels you took off. use a 13mm deep socket remove the sensors and install on the wheel you have on the car. hope this helps.
