the coolant fan does not only cool down engine temp. it also run if pcm detect a problem .or ac request. see pcm data to find out code or data out of range
According to several Oldsmobile discussion groups online, the inline fuse is behind the glove box taped to another inline fuse. The wire is actually pink and black.
The fan relay should be one of the four on the firewall under the windshield. You may need a shop manual to get the wiring diagrams to test it.
If you have power and ground at the fan motor and it does not run, the motor may be faulty.
Hi!!
Check the Relay Pack located to the left of the radiator (standing in front of the engine) there are 3 relays together, the one closest to the radiator, is the Cooling Fan Relay.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!
it may if it does it will be a black box that is labeled fuses ,relays . take the cover off , it will have a diagram that is labeled with what they are in the cover. if no then it may be the drivers door window switch
to check the fan run a wire from the poss side of the battery to the connector on the fan,if it spins then replace relay or temp sensor whichever is cheapest first.....
The sending unit is for the light,or gauge, the coolant sensor could be the problem ,or the thermostat not opening, air in the cooling system that needs to be bled out,or the cooling fan relays,or fuse,or the cooling fans could be bad.
If the fuse is good, it could very well be the relay. To check the relay, remove the relay from plug and use a piece of wire stripped on both ends. Insert the wire into the plug and touch each plug to see if fan comes on. If fan comes ion after testing with wire, then the relay is bad. If fan does not come one, then the fan motor is bad.
