Make sure the latch isn't already in the closed position. next if you've already slammed the truck several times and haven't broke the latch yet, you may have bent the latch that's attached to the truck lid as the sheet metal in this area is very flimsy. using a flash light , slowly close lid while peering in to see if the latch is lining up. you should be able to tell if its bent and in which direction. i had this similar problem and i simply grabbed a hold of the latch and pulled it forward, bending it back into a position where it will line up and latch on bottom piece. ( the part attached to the body and not the truck)

TRY PUTTING THE KEY IN AND TURNING IT AS IF YOU WERE OPENING THEN PULL OUT KEY AND TRY CLOSING THEN TRY AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS
SOURCE: Trunk lid pops open when
I will do it in my own way since the wiring is messed up, and when i press close on my Remote, the trunk pops open. I will Harness this problem to benefit me since my remote does not have a trunklid switch. I will route the Motor (that has a piston) wire through the switch relay (located just above the vehicle ID plate area), so that opening the trunk lid is only possible when i keep pressing the trunk open swich (on the trunk lid) while at the same time pressing the close/LOCk button on my remote.
SOURCE: trunk won't close
You should be able to Close that Manually. Just wait for the Electronic Close to Stop Trying before you close it and it should be just fine.
SOURCE: automatic trunk lid closing device stopped working.
Get a trunk pull down switch from a dealer. This will fix it.
