The likely fault is the cables running to the seatbelt pre-tensioners under the drivers or passengers seat in the front of the car.

This may be simply the plug and socket have become seperated from sliding the seat back to clean, a common fault, or the airbag "clockspring" connection unit in the steering wheel has a broken ribbon cable inside the column housing.

To see if its the airbag clockspring, buy a 4 ohm resistor from maplin or radio shack, disconnect the battery on the car, unplug the airbag in the steering wheel and connect the resistor across the 2 contacts in place of the airbag, reconnect the battery, if the light goes out the clockspring is the fault, if not its the SRS system wiring under the seats.

Chevy Venture Van 2007 air bag light coming on dash board while driving

That means there is a fault in the airbag system. Every time you start the vehicle it will do a self check. If the self check fails the light will stay on.

You will need a higher end scan tool to pull codes from the airbag module. Once you know what codes are present you will have a better idea of what direction to head into.

Post the codes in the comments below and I'll do my best to help you figure it out.

Air bag light is on constantly

If the warning light stays on after the engine starts, the system is disabled.
You'll need to get the body computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

Service air bag indicator light on dash stays on

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work.

What does the red light on the bord with letters SRS means? It stays on for few seconds after I start the car (Honda accord 1995). Thank you

srs means secondary restraint system. e.g air bags and things like that. when it stays on for a few seconds its because it is doing a systems check. if the light stays on all the time then there is a problem. hope i helped.

5 series' of 5 beeps in a row on start up

Check the Air Bag Indicator Light. When you turn the car on it should stay on for 6 seconds and then turn itself off. If a fault is detected in the system operation check, the indicator light will either fail to light, stay on continuously or flash. The flashing may not start until up to 30 seconds after the initial systems check.

If there is a fault in the system AND the air bag indicator light fails to light then an audible tone will alert you- it will be a set of 5 chimes (bells/beeps) five times in a row.

Have the Air Bag serviced and the indicator light bulb changed. Since the dash will be off in order to change the bulb, I would have all of the other dash lights changed at the same time. If one goes out, others will surely follow.

Good luck!

Air bag

When you first start the truck the air bag system does a diagnostic. The light comes on because there is a fault in the system. Needs to be scanned, I suspect they will find a problem with the front impact sensor. Either it was damaged, or the wiring to it was damaged when you went into the ditch.
