I own a '93 6.5 l diesle and my turbo is not building boost

I own a '93 6.5 l diesle and my turbo is not building any boost, so i took my intake tube off going into the turbo and checked the impeller and it checks out but my waste gate is not opening. so i temp. wired it half open and tried to see if it would work, and my truck started to shutter after getting up to about 3000 rpm. Would that be my pdm pump? and if i do have to get my pump rebuilt should i upgrade it too allow for more horsepower?

Sounds like the turbo is not turning freely or you have a large leak somewhere inline. The waste gate should stay shut until it builds the set amount of boost. Can you normally hear it building boost? if so can you hear any air leaking while driving?

The turbo spin one can hear it, but does not boost the car.

Check the tubes coming off of the turbo, through the aftercooler (like a radiator in the front of the car) and back to the intake. Sometimes a section comes apart.

2002 and up Ford F350 Diesel Engine Oil in Belly pan low fuel mileage.

Ford Diesel engine blows off the intake rubber intake hoses, blue in color with 7.0 Liter. If you have a problem with this engine as stated above there is an updated hose for the intake tubes also remove the intake pipe on the turbo side of the turbo remove the 10MM bolt that holds the metal tube on to the block and remove the clamp on the turbo, remove tube. Next look at the turbo shaft inside do you see oil in the turbo? If no then grasp the turbo shaft and try moving it up or down and in and out. Any Movement The turbo needs to be rebuilt before replacing the Turbo hoses. If there is oil in the turbo then it needs to be rebuilt so stop at this time and decide what you want to do with it.
The turbo also has a flapper valve inside the turbo that goes bad at about 100,000 this is the boost waste gate and boost flapper valve, it is an internal gate unlike the mechanical ones on most turbo. If you have low power check the boost pressure with your boost gauge if you have less than 12 pounds of boost then it's time to look at the turbo. Of the Turbo I have rebuilt I have increased fuel mileage by 30 percent. If you want the details of how to gain the extra mileage post a comment to me or ask this question and I will get back to you for the procedure.

No turbo boost

Turbo is broken, remove repair/replace.Warning:turbo compressor stucked/defect may lead to injecting oil into the piston chamber via intake wich can be fatal for engine (lock it ,as oil can not be compressed and bend the piston rods in the worst scenario).Turbo actuator stucked (small piston near turbo)Clean it/replace.Vacuum leak.(loose/worn tubes, clamps)Need visual inspection.

88 conquest tsi cuts out when building boost, it was running perfectly fine today, but now the car cuts out when the turbo starts to build boost, and as soon as the boost gauge reaches 0, it cuts out

you may be having problems with the turbine or it could have a heavy short in the system. check the tuning on the turbo it may be starting the boost to soon or to late causing problems also check your intake setup this includes your pcv valve

Gauge for turbo not working and drives kind of weak

the wastegate could be stuck open, and its not building boost, its more likely the gauge is inoperative. if you had no boost that truck wont even get up to 50mph.

Whaen car idles its fine but when driving it sputters an when it builds boost it blows the intake pipe off the throttle body an oil comes out of the throttle body

in your car the air ventilation system is freeze up causing a build up of pressure which caused the oil to burst out. there is the mosture sludge build up under the oil fill cap . its advisable to clean everything up and then check out by starting the car. also spray crab cleaner in the throttle body and check out. as per me the problem is causing because of :-- I guess the breather vent tube was full of oil - frozen in there somehow. Must have to do with that sludge buildup on my oil fill cap. This is the one coming off the front on the left side of the oil filter. It goes down under the engine. This blockage caused a pressure buildup in the crankcase which caused oil to blow by the pistons and into the combustion chamber and out into the air intake hose and throttle body. get the spark plugs removed and cleaned up all the oil. The reason it sputter is because of all the oil in the combustion chamber. No air could get in. get the oil change and insulate the breather pipe in case of future freeze ups. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Code 66 turbo's not boosting

could be a vacuum leak look for any hose that goes to or from the turbo make sure that its not cracked or missing to include the cold air intake tube (black accordian) usually deals with the air filter as well.

Some loss of pick up power and a hissing or air escape/wooosh noise when accelorating. No real change in exhaust, no heavy black smoke just some mild exhaust smoke, but not all the time. Want to know if it...

Look for a leak on the pressure side of the turbo. I dont think the turbo is bad or else it wouldnt make the wooshing noise. You need to put the engine under a load to build turbo boost. Just giving it throttle in neutral wont work. Block the drive wheels up off the ground SECURLEY and put it in gear up to about 35 mph and ride the brake and give it throttle to find out where the leak is and repair from there
