It appears that your brake booster system has a major vacuum leak which is causing the engine to go lean and stall. Check the hose between the intake manifold and the brake booster. It may be cracked or loose causing outside air to enter the hose when the brake is applied.

2002 Beetle Engine cuts out after it warms up for a few hours.

Hello,
my advise to you is that:
Your VW problem is the throttle body, (good news) it doesn't need replacement, it only needs to be cleaned out, and even better if a good technician (know what he is doing) can run an adaptation procedure.
this will restore the ZERO position for the TPS and relearn the target engine idle speed.
Good luck.
Note: you are in my prayer.

I just got a oil change but drove my 2003 passat 1400 miles. I'm in -5 degrees fareheit. I went to start my car after not driving it for a day and the brake light came on and said STOP brake failure,...

It could mean that ,or it could mean the master cylinder is bad . open hood look at master cylinder drivers side of car by firewall see if it is low on fluod their will be a cap on it add if needed. before driveing away push brake pedal many times hard than check for fluid leeking or master cylinder low again. if still loseing fluid find where it is going report back and will tell you how to fix. hope this was helpful ps. if pedal goes to floor or fluid is leaking dont Drive vehicle.

2002 VW passat wagon brakes

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

My 2002 vw passat esp light comes on when you turn the engine on

Hi Amanda
I have come up against this problem a few times before.
If the ABS. light is NOT on, and its the ESP light only that is on...your problem may well be a faulty Yaw sensor. This unit is fitted to the floor panel under the rear seat...in the centre. Another problem (although not all that common) is a faulty ESP switch. You should have an OBD code reading done to make sure. If a new YAW sensor must be fitted, the car must be driven with a full steering lock in both directions (left and right) at a speed over 20 Km per hour after fitting. If this is not done the light will remain on, even though it will now drive ok.
As for the price of this unit...Here in Ireland it costs around 140 euro. Hopefully its cheaper where you are. So better to have the codes read first.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck with it

I have recently been gettin a STOP brake fault warning light and alarm on my 2003 vw passat tdi, not long had a service. it seems to come on when starting up, then periodically during the drive. havent...

I had this same problem back in November during a very cold spell.I had an appointment to have some "recall" work done on my 03 passat and told them about the STOP brake light. When I picked up my car, the dealer told me that it just needed some brake fluid??, so they filled it ! Well, I don't know about that, but I haven't seen that pesky STOP warning light since.

Brake Problem on 2004 VW Passat

You have to get CV Boots replaced, this happens because they split. What happen was something got stuck inside the axel where the little boots is held on and split that little piece of rubber (its easy to do). As a result, fluid leaks and and spashes on the back tires so you never know it happens. When you make turns the car will make a clicking noise. You can add fluid but, it will continue to leak out if those boots are split so, you have to replace the boots. I had to replace the boots and axel because the boots come on the axel. Its an expensive project. Boots, axel and labor $500 starting if you go through the dealer. Also, if you have an extended warranty they won't cover it because there is no time frame when these boots split it just something that can happen. Honestly, they know this is something common especially if you drive through snow.
