The exact same thing happened to me just this afternoon. Fortunately I was in limp mode(coast) to an intersection and didnt get rearended by the vehicle behind me. The "wrench" gauge/light came on and my accelerator just stopped working. I waited in 18 degree weather for a wrecker and when my 05 expedition was towed home my hubby crunk it up and it ran fine. I really think Ford should do something about this I would hate for someone to loose their life before they take action. There are too many expedition owners with the same problem for this to be overlooked.
Crunk it up ,that's good english . Cranked it up How many miles on the vehicle ! The wrench light is a warning light for the transmission or the electronic throttle control .All new vehicle's have electronic throttle control , there are position sensor's in the APP an in the throttle body an they ware out . It's your responsibility to keep it maintained . Not just to jiffy lube !To the Dealer to have diagnostic's run on the electronics.

The wrench symbol stands for the electronic throttle control. This was a problem for me as well with my 05 Expedition. You have to take it in to the dealer and have them fix it. This will continue happening if you dont. I called Ford directly about this and they told me enough people have to call and let them know about this problem in order for them to issue a recall. The repairs cost me $750. But I had no choice but to have it fixed. Call Ford 18003923673 and let them know. There are alot of other people with the same problem and they should be responsible and fix it. I hope this helps.

If it doesn't di it again don't fret over it..you could have picked up a litlte water, or condensation from your fuel tank for that particualr moment...add some "HEET: to one tank of fuel but only once a year

Sounds like the fan and temp gauge (located on the intake mainfold is screwing up) , if its head gaskets it would be smoking out the tail pipe. Have you added any antifreeze if so was it once a week if so make sure nothings leaking on the ground if there isn't then its your head gaskets that would be a first for a 4.6 which is a good motor and none I would on ever had bad heads. I would check the water pump fan first with truck off grap fan at 9 and 3 and see if it wobbels forward and backward if so it's the fan. I have come across alot of bad fans. Fan would cost $30 and up. Rate of difficulty 1-10 I give it a 4.

I need to know if the TPS in my 2006 Ford Fusion SEL, can be replaced on my own, or does it need to go to a dealer to be replaced?
