The DIN tools do not click to remove the factory stereo
This is for a 2002 Mazda Tribute. The DIN don't seem to click into place and i can not remove the factory stereo. How far do they need to be pushed in to release the stereo?

need the radio removal tool.it is two small handles that you screw into each front side radio.tool act as handles where you can grip to remove the radio from dash.

Lift the Town Car's
hood and disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative
battery terminal. Loosen the cable's clamp with the wrench and lift it
from the battery. Set the cable aside and move to the inside of the
Lincoln.

Pry the trim panel from the stereo assembly.

Insert the Ford DIN removal tools into the two holes at
either side of the stereo face. Push the tools into the openings until
they lock into place. Pull outward on the tools while pulling the stereo
from the Lincoln's stereo dock.

Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the outlets on the back of the factory stereo to finish the stereo removal.
There are two 3/8 inch wide black trim pieces on either side of the radio - look at the sides of the radio and you'll see them. Carefully pry them off and you will see the holes.
I'm not sure where' the screws are but basically You need to remove the panel on the rear door, then once the panel (interior trim) has been removed you should see a lock mechanism which will be screwed/bolted in place. Easier and cheaper then buying a brand new lock mechanism (unless you want to buy brand new) is going to a wreckers and finding your car model and get it that way (yes it's used but it'll probably save you tons of money vs the dealership) Best Regards.

You need a pair of U shaped unlocking tools. They are available at stereo installer stores, or even best buy, I fabricated a set out of a coat hanger! You pop the bezel off around the radio, and the release tools get inserted on the left and right sides of the radio deck
