I have simular problem with same year Expedition 4WD, 4.6L. It blows warm air for a few seconds and then cool (not cold). I have the manual control System with Aux AC/heater. All the selector positions front and rear work with great air flow. I have removed the center console and can view the actuator motor turn as I change temp from cold and hot (axle seems to move approx 90 degrees in both directions). AC works great everywhere. System has recently been flushed and new thermostat installed. New fan clutch also recently installed. Could this also be a Blend Door problem or should I look for something else?

I would say blend door is not working.

Manual A/C
The manual climate control system heats or cools the vehicle interior depending on the function selector position and the temperature selected. The function selector position determines heating or cooling and air distribution. The temperature blend control setting determines air temperature.
The manual climate control components are used to:

  • select air inlet source (outside or recirculated).
  • select blower motor speed.
  • select discharge air temperature (temperature blend).
  • select discharge air location (defrost, panel, floor).
  • select A/C compressor clutch operation.

  1. Remove eat LH instrument panel lower nut and position the brace aside.
  1. NOTE: Rotate the vacuum control motor to disconnect the vacuum control motor rod from the panel/floor door.
Remove the panel/floor vacuum control motor.
    1. Disconnect the vacuum lines.
    1. Remove the screws.
    1. Slide the rod out of the door and remove the panel/floor door vacuum control motor.
  1. Remove the floor duct.
    1. Remove the two screws (one each side).
    1. Remove the floor duct.
  1. Remove the temperature blend door actuator.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the screws.
    1. Pull down to release the actuator shaft and remove the temperature bleed door actuator.

Look ,behind the glove box,on top of the hac box, toward the center of the truck,it is a flat box, with a multiple wire plug in it,it is the temp door actuator motor, that turns as you select the cold,to hot selection,it may not be turning all the way for hot.You can remove this motor, and turn it,yourself to see,it is hard to do,because it is ressesed in the box.

Heater problems

Changing the thermostat was a good start.
Your issue might be a clogged heater core:
You need to warm up the engine again and turn on your heater. If it feels cold, then lift your hood and look for your heater hoses. There should be two small hoses going from the engine to the firewall on the passenger side. BEING CAREFUL, feel the hoses for being hot. You just need to touch the hoses and see if it feel warm to hot. If only one hose feel warm or hot and the other hose does not, you have a clogged heater core in the dash. If both hoses fell hot, you have a failure under the dash. The most common failure of the heater is the air mixer door on the heater/air conditioning assembly under and inside the dash. The mixer door has a tendency to tear up the fiberglass assembly that holds the door.
If it is not the core or the mix door ... then some people have had issues with the controls (at least on the same year Grand Am) ... see link

I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. Until recently the heat and air worked fine. The temperature gauge is registering to very hot but nothing but cold air blowing. after a few minutes the temp goes back...

First you need to put in a thermostat. On most vehicles it is not a hard or expensive job. The gauge going up to very hot is sign the thermostat is sticking and taking too long to open. The heat is fed to interior by hoses from same system as radiator / thermostat. If thermostat is staying open too much (because it can also stick open when going bad) it will take a long time to get warm. The heater box under dash has both the air conditioner and the heater box in it and if the door is stuck to A/C side you will not get heat. Door is usually opened by vacuum hose, cable, or electric motor. If you can look under dash and see the lever that moves the door you may find it is not moving when you move lever from hot to cold on dash. If cable driven you may be able to see cable not connected or door lever broken. But when engine reads warm on gauge - look under hood for round hoses (the size of washing machine hoses) that go from engine into passenger area and see if they feel warm. If hoses cold you are not getting warm water to system (clog in system or thermostat), if hoses warm then door to heat box not moving.

I have a 98 Bonneville, the heater/defroster is blowing out cold air. I drove around for 30 to 40 minutes checked the radiator and it was cold to the touch. could it be the thermostat

The dash gauges are notoriously inaccurate. But it is possible that the thermostat is stuck open. Does the upper radiator hose get hot after engine warmed up? Also feel both heater hoses-when engine is warm, both should be hot-indicating the coolant is circulating through the heater core. If heater hoses are hot, and you still have cold air, the temperature blend door on the heater case may not be operating.
Try a new thermostat and see if engine warms up faster and better.

Heater not working

Feel your heater hoses. If both are hot, the heater core is circulating coolant, and the thermostat is not a problem. The door controls in the heater case need attention.
If only one heater hose is hot and the other cool, look for a water valve in the heater hoses-may be closed. Or the core has an air blockage or blockage-try to backflush it with a garden hose.
If both heater hoses are cool (on a warmed up engine), then it could be thermostat is stuck open.

Heater want put out warm air

If the engine reaches normal temp, and the radiator is full of coolant, and both heater hoses are getting hot, you could have a problem with a blend door under the dash.

My 1984 grand marquis does not have interior heat.

re check the coolant level, it most likely dropped when your engine reached temp for thermostat to open and took what you had just poured into radiator and put it in the block.

2005 town and country heat does not work it only blows warm air i changed the thermostat and its still the same

No.
There are no heater control valves of years gone by. And if the water pump was not pumping the engine would run very hot.
If the radiator is full, and the thermostat is working, the heater hoses should be hot, and the problem could be a faulty blend door under the dash. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the ac evaporator as well as the vents.

I just put a brand new heater core in my 1998 ford expedition and the air is warm not hot so then i changed the thermostat and it was still warm so i took the dash back out and seen that the blind door was...

Do you have eatc/electronic automatic temp control? The temp blend door, I wouldn't remove that, with no door, it seems to me your getting 50/50 hot and cold. Are there any eatc trouble codes?
Does the engine reach operating temp, hopefully over 200 degrees F. Are the heater hoses hot to the touch?
Do you live in an extremely cold region?

I have dodge caravan 95, 205,678 miles and seems running really well, the only problem is, there's no hot air, i replaced the thermostat a while ago, still blowing cold air.and checked the coolant it's ok,...

WITH ENGINE FULLY WARM, FELL BOTH HEATER HOSES THEY SHOULD BOTH BE HOT. IF ONE IS HOT AND THE OTHER IS COLD HEATER CORE IS LIKELY PLUGGED. IF BOTH ARE HOT THEN YOU HAVE A BLEND DOOR PROBLEM UNDER THE DASH.

1997 ford expediton two problems 1. is when coasting to a stop or just rolling slow a clicking noise coming from rearend area I first thought u-joint but checked that then wheel bearing checked that it...

If you use the Emergency brake more when you park a trailer, then both the clicking and the wheel bearing noise is due to the Emergency brake. The linings in the E brake are drum type and are inside the rear rotor. They will accumulate rust and make noise.

The rear pinion bearing in the differential can make a noise under load. This noise will go away if you are coasting in DRIVE, or put trans into NEUTRAL while moving. Pulling a load puts more strain on the bearing.

The heater problem can be several things. Usually an electric or vacuum "door" under the dash. A low water level after warmup. Or a bad thermostat will stick to begin with and then open too much causing a temperature drop. After the truck is warmed up, feel the heater hoses and see if they are both hot. If they are both hot, then its a "door" problem under the dash.
