what kind of oil are you using, this vehicle should only run on 10 w 60 synthetic if you use any other it will clog up components like the vanos solenoids as there arent an common issues noted by bmw about m5 vanos issues, if you are using the proper oil and regularly changing it than you can attempt to blow clean the solenoids in question and re test or replace them

Bmw trouble codes poo12

Likely the camshaft position sensor OR possibly a Vanos problem. The first is relative easy DIY the Vanos is more complicated. The Vanos will likely throw up a P0010 eventually.

Bmw m5 e60 2005, engine cutting out when started last night, now will not start at all

Sounds like crank sensor or coil pack failure to me.

Needs a diagnostic machine to explore the ECM

High oil Consumption, BMW M5

Look for Castrol TWS 10W60 Motor Oil. This car should not burn so much oil, you need to use a different kind. It is recommended by BMW as well. I also heard the VANOS isnt an issue anymore, can be fixed with a different MAFF. Good luck!
