03 Ford Explorer NO HEAT

Something got jammed inside the blower motor, causing the sensor to get a "Check Engine" light. Have a mechanic look at it. Probably a holder plastic. Otherwise, an OBD Scanner tool can reset the light.

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door motor or actuator.

It is called a blend door you need to replace both the actuator and the door. Follow the instructions at this site to use a product called the Heater Treater, it is avail on Ebay. If you wish to go full OEM you must remove the dash assembly completely and that takes about 12 hours. This is a factory defect and Ford may provide assistance in the repair if you call the factory customer service number and set up a meeting with the field rep fro Ford. I have seen this happen but it is a case by case deal.

sounds strange. have you checked to see if you have an exhaust leak? you also may be hearing the first clues to your catylitic converter starting to break down. Check for an exhaust leak first and let us know how it looks. Thanks

try the heater core it might be pluged up or the pump isnt circlating

SECTION 412-02: Heating/Defrosting 1998 Explorer/Mountaineer Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Heater Core Removal

1. NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00 .
   Drain the radiator. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03 .

1. Remove the heater water hoses.
   1. Squeeze the clamps and pull the hoses off.
   1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the water control valve.

1. Remove the instrument panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 .

1. Remove the A/C evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to Section 412-03 .

1. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). For additional information, refer to Section 303-14 .

1. Remove the PCM heat sink.
   1. Remove the ground strap screw.
   1. Remove the heat sink.

1. Remove the heater air plenum nuts from the engine side of the dash panel.

1. Remove the heater core.
   1. Remove the heater core cover to air plenum screws.
   1. Lift off the cover.

1. Remove the heater core (18476).

There is a diversion valve that closes off the heater core. If there is an air pocket or if pressure bypasses that could cause the thump. And allow the heater core to warm up and in turn cause the ac not to blow as cold. It is like having the heat and the ac on at the same time. To fix this make sure cooling system is free of air, and check the diversion valve to ensure proper working.

Hi, you should check if the blower plastic fan is rubbing against the fan housing ,they get lose with time and make those noises.good luck C1...

  The concern lies in the temperature blend door. Most likely if it is clicking the door is broken where the motor shaft (the motor that actuates the door) goes into the door. Replace both the door and motor ( unfortunately from Ford the whole heater box needs to be replaced) or an aftermarket such as Dorman may have the door separate.  The entire dash needs to be removed for the repair so it is quite costly.
