The ODBCII error code
P1685....Smart Key Immobilizer Module has received an invalid key
This is most likely because you are using an aftermarket key which did not come from the dealer. The keys for this car have an embedded micro-chip in them which will limit or restrict access to the vehicle to prevent theft, forgery and for valet keys which restrict access to "secure" areas like opening the trunk.
Go to the dealer to get a new key, locksmiths should have know about this to.

So you don't have to take the car to a shop every time a great tool to have that can save you some moneyto read computer error codes and clear them after work has been donecan be had for under $100 from Actron. This is what I have been usingand its a life saver but it's also good to have the vehicles repairmanual as well.
The computer on this car is OBDII like many other vehicles out there these days so you'll need a tool that can plug it in and read the outlet located above the shin of your right leg under thedashboard or steering wheel. Here is a link to a bunch of theirproducts on amazon Actron and other OBDII Computer diagnostic code reader tools.
