2006 subaru outback, missfire code - cylinders 1 and 3. Could it be coil or plugs and wires I'm told at service shop. Anybody come across this?

had miss fires with my 92 legacy gt.typical suby fault coil packs always go out in saying that check that you dont just have a foul or failed spark plug. easy fix if it is the coil i replaced mine with 2nd hand ones from the same model usualy find them at most subaru specialists wreckers etc depending on model.

Engine miss at idle. cylinder 1 and 3 has no fire

Try the ignition module. This is more than likely your problem. It is on the coil pack where the wires connect to.I have had a few of these go on me.This should take care of your problem.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Sounds like the coil is going. The crank sensor will fire the ignitor and fires 2 plugs at once. Have the coil checked first. Good luck.

2001 ford 4.6 liter idles rough sometimes dies

may need 1 0r more coil packs replaced,or it could be what happened to my 2000 4.6---1 lifter expanded out and wouldnt collapse, causing the rocker arm to fall out of place and the valve could never open...try unplugging 1 coil pack at a time while running and listen for a change in the way it runs,if there isnt a change then its probably a bad coil pack, find a cylinder that runs and swap the coil packs,if no difference then its probably the valve staying shut.

Engine miss on #3 cyl. new plugs, wires, and coilpack

check for vaccum leaks, gasket leaks, injector leaks! and test coil packs to see if module is good and you get spark to every cylinder and see if you get fuel to every cylinder.
How many miles do you have? Is the motor tired?
