All the above is normal , except 2000rpm is a little high at idle . can be adjusted down to 1500rpm. the computer adjusts the engine speed . in drive the transmission loads up the engine idle drops to 1000rpm . in park engine unloaded rpm increase all normal.

This sounds to me like the antitheft security system. If the computer doesn't read the transponder frequency coming from the key, it goes into anti theft and shuts down the starter and/or the injectors. If it starts for 1 to 5 seconds and then shuts down, its probably this. Read up about this on this link, it gives you symptoms and causes, plus a "do it yourself" solution if you decide that this is the problem. Check cadilatic converter

Take the bulb out out. The dealer may can bypass that option.

GM used a pressure sensor on the power steering system; check your power steering fluid level to see if you are low on fluid. If you are full on fluid the pressure sensor is bad if the RPM does not increase at low speeds for turning assistance.

You can get a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys to name a few, and while their scanner is working turn the steeering wheel to see if the RPM drops.

If the scan produces a Code you can contact us with the number and we can advise you or you can fix the SUV with the info the Autoparts guy gives you.
