Looking for a manual to rebuild an rochester fuel injection

Did you bleed the injectors, water separator. fuel filter. Is the fuel pump running. A Chilton manual would be a handy trouble shooting guide. Diesel fuel injection is complicated and expensive ( Bosch).

Sounds like your float is stuck and your needle will not come off of the seat. You need to find someone that is capable of rebuilding your carburetor or replace it.

You probably need to adjust idle speed

Don't sound like a fuel pump,replace fuel filter and see if it fixes.

You get a pretty good diagram in the rebuild kit, from aftermarket parts store.

The rich smell is due to too much fuel being drawn through it without enough oxygen to burn it properly. There is an adjustment screw to change the mixture and the advice and specs are in your owner's manual.

When you ask for the kit at the part store some list it as a carburator rebuild kit and some list it as a Throttle Body rebuild kit. Not much to rebuild, Clean it put in new gaskets and o-rings. There is two different kits one comes with a new fuel pressure regulator and one does not. Best to check fuel pressure and fuel filter prior to purchasing the kit. Fuel injectors should be tested and cleaned by a shop. I found a carquest auto parts that had the machines to do it and cost me $40 for 2 injectors.

You should be able to find or order a Haynes manual, part # 10230, for Rochester carbs at you local auto parts store. If not then faxonautoliterature has the GM service manual for your car and it will have a section on rebuilding carbs. Hope this helps.

What you are looking for does not exist outside Stanadyne. The GM service manual refers their own mechanics to send the pumps out for anything other than basic adjustments. Even the Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part no. 10330, gives no info on rebuilding or repairing these. They tell you to send it out as well. You might check out The Diesel Page on the net and you may find someone who has done what you want to do and can talk you through it.Good luck.
