I had the same problem with a Toyota truck, either the key is worn or the lock itself is, you can try slightly moving the key back and forth while turning it in the lock. Do not apply too much pressure or you'll risk snapping the key off. to fix the problem completely, I would try having a new key made, if that doesn't work, get new locks, have them keyed to match by a locksmith.
i dont think that your 04 camry has a remote start unless it is an aftermarket installed keyless entry and remote start. my 03 toyota remote has lock, unlock, trunk onfront of remote and panic button on the back that is red.
did you try to rock the steering wheel back and forth? it may be in a bind. are you parked on a hill? try while the key is turned on rocking the wheel back and forth. my daughter had the same problem.
the computer system that runs the car itself has a Vehicle Theft Deterrent Module build into the OBD II operating system that runs the ignition timing everything. It does make it neearly impossible to steal the car, only one draw back the Dealer is the only place you can get it serviced.
I recently replaced the battery on my 2004 Toyota Camry. When I installed new battery the door locks will not stay unlocked once opened with remote. How do I reprogram?
If your remote is attached to the key in the ignition, it could have been bumped setting off the alarm. It is also possible for the lock button to be depressed and lock the doors, if you do not notice this and get out of the car........!
Do you have a remote starter installed in this vehicle? If so, you body computer is probably compromised. Aftermarket remote starters kills the body ECU with unfortunate regulararity.
