The driver's side door won't latch securely. If I'm sitting in the car, all I have to do is push on the car door and it opens. The door will also not even lock. If I was driving and made a sharp turn, I'm sure that the door would swing open by itself. I put some 3-in-1 oil in the latch area and it still didn't help it. I guess I have to open up the panel and take a look inside. Any suggestions before I do that?

2002 35th edition camaro will not start and alarm goes off every . time the door opens

Could be a bad BCM/Security module or a bad door latch. Try opening the passenger side first. Reach in and unlock the drivers side. If it starts, replace the drivers side latch, check wiring first though. Have the BCM codes read.

So I close my car driver side door and it automatically says on the dash board that my door is open?? Any suggestions on what might be wrong. Its a 2011 Ford edge if that helps at all. thanks

Your door ajar system is tied into the door latch mechanism. if the door still appears to close tightly, and the door latch works properly, then you may need to adjust or replace the latch, though ford has listed a cleaning procedure for the latch that involves using a tool to test latch position and manually closing the latch (while door is OPEN) using a screwdriver 10-20x and monitoring to see if the latch consistently shows CLOSED and OPEN when it should.
If pushing the door closed after its already closed causes the lamp to turn off, an adjustment of the latch may help, or cleaning the latch contacts may also help. If the door never shows latched regardless of how hard it is pushed, it may be a defective latch, or a wiring problem (Door wires sometimes break in the door harness between the door and the side of the dashboard when the harness enters the vehicle).

I'm trying to open the driver side rear door. After checking everything else I removed the inside panel, disconected the switches, pulled and pushed the rods in the correct manner. The door would not open....

try some house hold oil spray it on the inside off the lock.
let it for an hour to penetrade.
then make a fist and knock on the inside where the lock sits.
the panel is off so see also for child lock inside the door.

Driver door opens while driving

try lubricating the latch with a lite penetrating oil. if this doesnt work the latch will probably need replaced.

Driver side door won't open

If the door handles feel like they have resistance but don't open the door I would suspect a seized door latch.

Drivers side door wont shut. how do you replace the part that latches

Before you go about changing the latch, make sure that the latch is fully open. This can be done by pulling the latch teeth inward towards the drivers seat with a screwdriver, while releasing the door opener handle at the same time. Often these large heavier doors become out of alignment at the hinge side causing the latch to close prematurely. If you are able to accomplish this task, lubricate the entire latch with white spray lithium grease. Keep in mind that the latch has two settings. The first is to catch the door(for safety) and the second is to secure the door. Thank you, Dana

My 1987 Dodge Ramcharger, 318 Auto, 2wd has a rear door issue. It won't shut and latch properly the owner before me installed additional locks on either side to secure the door but they are ugly. Any way...

take a look at the latches, make sure they are grease good and all working, sometimes one of the latches freezes up, so the door is not completely latched, also you can adjust the striker to lock tighter, this is located on the body, at the top and bottom of the left side door, take a look and see if all latches are latching, use a screw driver to push them locked and see if latec will stay latched in the lock postion. good luck.

The drivers side door won't close.

open the door , look at the latch on the door , as it get older and non lubricated , the latch can stick in the locked position , i,m going to draw a picture .

when the door is open it should look like the picture , i suggest your door is in the closed position and why it bounces off as you say , take a , lets say a screw driver stick it in where the little lever thats sticking up , push the door open button on the outside door handle , pry that lever forward , if successful try it , and lubricate it , hope my barbaric picture gets the point across .
