What is your Transmission Fluid Level? If Low, it could cause this signal.
When was the Transmission Fluid and Filter last changed? Was the correct fluid used?
I would have these changed as soon as possible.
There is a Transmission Temperature Sensor on 4-speed transmissions.. Check the Connection and Voltage on this Sensor.
Remove this sensor, clean, reinstall, and check to see if the light comes back on. If it does, remove and replace this sensor.

My 93 jeep grand cherokee is not getting fuel...if I disconnect the negative post for awhile and then reconnect it, the jeep gets fuel and will run....what is going on?

If the check engine light does not light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, at those times when your jeep doesn't want to start, then your main jeep ecm is in need of repair. The fuel pump relay will get energized only after that check engine light comes on. It's a known problem, especially with the first and second year production Grand Cherokees, 93 and 94.

02 Jeep Grand Cherokee jumps out of overdrive while driving on highway.

The torque converter is where OD takes place. Look at your transmission fluid cooler to see if it's blocked. The TCM module controls the OD functions so it may not be sending the correct signals.

What are the symptoms of a speed sensor going bad on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6 cyl.

Since alot of things rely on data from the speed sensor you will "usually" get an ABS alarm, little or no shifting,no indication of speed on the speedometer, and the check engine light. without the abs light and with a speed indicated I would lean toward a transmission problem

Temperature needle does not move for awhile and when it does the check engine light comes on but the temperature needle does not read hot and moter does not get hot

When a 'check engine light' (MIL=Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is turned on, there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set/stored in the ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module). This code identifies which engine management system component/function experienced a malfunction. Once you pull/read this code, you may begin diagnosis.

Plenty of air but no heat one side of dash use to blow hot air. Now neither side blows hot air. 2000 jeep grand cherokee coolant is fine driver side seat heater doesn"t work air bag light comes on every...

Check to see that the blend door linkage is hooked up. Doubtful it is heater core, as you had heat to one side and not the other. Check coolant control valve linkage, verify it is moving the coolant valve from off to on when you switch temperature from cold to hot. Verify you have coolant flow to the heater core by feeling the heater hoses where they enter the firewall. If all checks out well, then look at hvac controls individually.

Jeep 2002 Transmission Over-Temperature

may have a bad temp sensor for trany oil, or the cooler or lines may be restricked, the oil temp has to be checked when the light comes on, this will tell if its really hot or the sensor is bad, start there.

My check engine light comes off and on and now

open the trunk and check the harness on the left hinge, wiggle the wires and see if the brake light warning light goes out, there is probably a break in the wiring in this loom, it will also set a code for transmission range sensor for some reason, if all else fails go to autozone and have them scan for codes,if you have a 1700 code, you know this is the problem.

Temperature gauge goes up and oil light goes on

It's overheating.  check thermostat and water pump, also radiator coolant levels.  once you get it running at normal temp again take it to the shop and have them do a chemical test to see if the head gasket was damaged or the block was warped or cracked as this usually happens when your car overheats.

Overdrive cuts off buy itself while driving

when the transmission overheat light (this is for the fluid) comes on the transmission control module pulls the trans out of OD to try and cool it down, this is called failure mode strategy, it is built into the programming of the control module, the signal from the trans is most likely incorrect, but the module doesn't know that, replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
