Chev silverado 2000 speedometer and sterio deck not working

I was installing a new stereo deck into my Chevy silverado 1500 and the lead wire and the ground touched. i quickly pulled them apart after i had finished i started my truck. the deck didn't work and my speedometer, odometer, RPM gauge, and gear select didn't work. any ideas on how to fix this?

    there is no common fuse between the 2 systems that i could find

You probably blew a fuse and the other affected components are on the same fuse. Check the fuse blocks for any blown fuses and replace as necessary.

    Have you checked the radio and gauges fuse?

Possitive and nagitive speaker wire colors on a 2000 silverado

don't sweat it. hook the wires up. If it is wired wrong the speaker will pulse outward toward the door. If wired properly they will pulsate inward towards the interior of the vehicle. You can veify the speakers movement visully or by placing your hand over the speaker. Enjoy your new speakers.

Remote Wire

there should be a red, black, yellow and blue wire separate from your speaker wires the red should only be hot when the key is turned on the yellow should be hot all the time the black is your ground and the blue wire is your remote wire only hot when the deck is turned on. if it is a factory deck it mite not have a remote wire
