Ck for the pick up coil working.unplug pick up coil remove wire from ignition coil to dist lay coil wire still connected to coil about 1/2 inch from ground turn key on take a jumper wire and jump the wires on the engine harness side of the connector if it has a spark replace the pick up coil in the distributor

Help please i have a 1987 dodge ram pick up that died on me on the hyway i find now there is no spark from comming out of the coil i ran a positive wire direct from the battery to the Pos. Side of the coil...

Check the ballast resistor mounted on the fire wall. It's white about 3 inches long with one screw in the middle. Use a test light and check to see if you are getting fire across both terminals. If not replace it. Fire comes from the ignition through the starter relay to the ballast resistor and then the coil. Hope this will help you.

1991 dakota intermittently stalls or will not start after being run for 30 minutes or more of running.

When it does this you need to check if you have voltage ( spark ) going to the end of the spark plug wire, but it sound to me like your pick up coil is going bad, pick up coil sit under the distributor cap under the distributor rotor same size as distributor assembly ( black ) cheap$$, good luck, hope this was very helpful.
