If you run the a/c in slow traffic it will cause more heat in the engine bay then the car can ex spell if that is not the case try putting in a new thermostat and also when the thermostat is being replace have a very through cooling system flush done.hopefully this helps a bit.

My Toyota hiace commuter 06 is overheating but no visible watter leeks to be found..the engine is working good so I don't think is the head gasket..any advice?

if it has a conventional fan driven by the belt , replace the viscous fan hub ( fan clutch)
if electric fans . fuses, relays and water coolant temp sensor to be checked
if the over heating occurs at stop lights , slow moving traffic, hard pulls in low gears , and you have a viscous fan hub , it will be the hub

Car overheating when in idle or in traffic ok on moterways

sounds like the fan might be the problem on the highway you are going fast enough it cools itself without the fan but slower the fan has to pull the air thru

Check engine comes in when engine starts to overheat, which it does in slow traffic. Radiator, fans, water pump are OK.

Did you check/replace the thermostat? Another possible cause may be hair line cracks in the head(s).

2007 bmw 318 i is running hot

have a pressure test done on the cooling system to check for leaks. have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores. Have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracks. If you have a viscous fan hub on the fan then replace it if the heating is indicated at stop lights and slow traffic. If automatic check that the transmission oil temperature is not overheating and putting that heat into the radiator from the oil cooler in the radiator tank

Overheating in slow traffic. suspect front fan

temp sensor probably bad. You can listen for the fan at idle or just open the hood and look to see if its turning.

Do a cylinder leak down test. Hook up a airline to each spark plug hole. Bring each cyclinder to tdc and listen for air leak. Possibly in the radiator. You can also reverse the process by doing a radiator leak down test. If you hear bubbling in the radiator bad head gasket. Remove and replace head gasket.
