Noise coming from under 05 Chevy 2500 HD

Have an 05 chevy 2500HD 6.6L 4x4. When in reverse hear a rubbing like noise from under the truck. Put the truck in neutral and tried to see if there was any play in the driveshaft to see if the u-joint was bad but didn't notice anything. Changed the oil in the rear end (no murky oil). Have a friend who had the transfer case go bad in his 2500HD and made noises. This sounds like it is coming from the rear though. Brake pads have not started squeling and seem to still have wear left. Any suggestions?

The parking brake rusts and makes a rubbing sound. it is inside of the rear disks. you have to remove the caliper then the caliper bracket. pull the disk off and inspect the parking brake. very common problemas most automatic trucks no one ever uses the parking brake

Noise comming from transfer case on my 2007 chevy 2500 hd, was told at dealership that my steering box was bad, could that noise be from steering box, is box located in the same area as transfer case

No, the steering box is located in the left front and the transfer case is located in the center of the vehicle. If the vehicle has under 100,000 miles and it is the transfer case it should be under warranty.

My 05 Chevy 2500HD is making a grinding noise when decelerating, as in going down a hill. When applying pressure to the accelerator it stops. It sounds like its coming from the rear bottom.

It is the transfer case. It seems to be a big problem with the 2004 and 2005 models. They are not synchronized and bend the forks alot. The noise you hear is the chain rolling off the gear. Mine only did it when I was going over 45 downhill and not on the throttle for a few seconds. Hope this helps...

Grinding noise front end.

I say it's the CV joints. You have to jack up under the lower A-Arm, to take the spring pressure off of it, to check them.

(Use jack stands, and wheel chocks behind the rear tires. Emergency brake On. Work on a hard level surface. Be SAFE! Trucks can be replaced, YOU cannot!)

1999 Chevy Blazer makes noise

Check your driveshaft universal joint (u joint). When the needle bearings go, this is the sound it makes. To check, chock all wheels front and rear, put in neutral, if 4x4, put 4x4 in neutral also, go under vehicle, grab driveshaft at u joint and try to turn back and forth, watching for play, wobble in u joint. U should be able to see it. Let me know how u do.

2002 Chevy Silverado clunking noice when shift from 2wd to 4hi

It is somewhat Normal Depending on how Loud the Clunking is. This is a Common Complaint on the Chevy 4x4's. I have verified this through the Dealerships here in Oklahoma and they all say the Same thing But, I am with you, They should go into 4x4 without that Clunk for as much as we pay for them.
