I am in the US. Just got a S430 2002. Everything works fine except my cellphone charger does not fit into the cigarette lighter. I tried the one from my old phone just to see if it would work. It didn't work either. Is there some kind of adapter?

well in that case you need to replace the cigarette lighters its simple for older cars but you might want to talk to your local chevy dealer.

If you mean key will not turn in ignition,charge or jump start
Car has electronic ignition switch
If battery is low/flat it will not turn

The cigarette lighter plug should also work for the phone charger as long as the phone charger uses the cigarette lighter style plug(long with two metal contacts on the sides and a button contact on the tip). Most standard car chargers will fit both cigarette and auxillary style plugs.

how about checking the fuse and wiring to lighter

IF YOU HAVE A TEST LIGHT, TEST center contact INSIDE THE LIGHTER OUTLET IF IT SHOWS POWER YOUR PROBLEM IS THE GROUND. And The Ground is INCORPERATED into A Bundle Located @ or around Electrical Center= Fuse / Relay BOX under hood. Sounds like a (BODY GROUND) Problem. Also Be Sure it is NOT a KEY ON Curciut. I Have a Carivan that the Cig. Lighters Work ONLY with KEY ON. Hope this is Of Help to you ! .

sounds like you have a blown fuse to your cigarette lighter. look in the fuse box for a blown fuse.

Yes there is a fuse corresponding to this which has cut off. It is located in the car under the driver frontage.

hi mate , 2 get too the wiring you have too pull the dash apart take the ash tray out and undo the screws up in there and all others . my suggestion is too find another lighter that fits and try that first as thats what happened too me ,i pulled everything apart too find it was the actual lighter

there could be a wire in side the unit its self and that might have come dislodged

try it and let me know

The part that Pulled out Should Screw into the Part that is still in the Car.
