My brothers Chrysler 300 Limited with the 3.5l had the same problems. On cold starts every electrical component would dim in and out which would cause one of his HID headlights to click off because of it.
First thing that came to mind was the alternator! So I took it off and had it tested... of course it tested fine, I was also told the alternator is controlled by the computer so I did some more searching and finally found my answer. There was TSB put out for the dealers in 2005 that stated that the 300's may have an interior and exterior light dimming issue and the solution to this is for the PCM to be reflashed with the new software they have available for these cars. So I put the atlernator back in, drove the vehicle to the dealership and explained what I had found. They were kind of shocked how I had found a solution to the strange problem that they hadn't heard of. So either way I paid the $79 for the PCM to be updated and that fixed everything. The software must have new variables to control the alternator allowing more amperage to be pumped out at every RPM range.
He also had a strange whinning noise coming from his engine on acceleration and idle which I found out to be a bad idler pulley that was a $30 part from the dealer also. This made his engine quiet without the obnoxious whinning noise that sounded like the engine was supercharged.
Hope this helps! He's definitely happy now!
