I just had to change my break light switch on my 2001 Hyundai Accent and my break lights were still staying on. I discovered that the rubber stopper on the break pedal that pushes in the switch on the break light switch was missing, therefore the switch was not being compressed. I ended up using a small bolt, a washer and two nuts in the hole where the stopper would go, and it works great.I just had to change my break light switch on my 2001 Hyundai Accent and my break lights were still staying on. are you sure its the tail lights and not the brake lights. if its the brake lite check your brake light switch located ( probably ) behind or on top of the brake peddle
firstly you need to make sure that they are the tail lights & not the brake lights I find it strange if it is the tail lights as the tail & parking lights are on the same circuit & they should all stay on, but if it is the stop lights(brake lights) it could be that the brake light switch is faulty & needs to be replaced or it may have come loose & needs to be adjusted.......hope this helps......cheers.
sounds like a stop lamp switch bad or piece that is in pedal at switch, check brake pdl to see if a round grommet is still stopping the brake light switch, these dry rott crack and fall out.
Check the brake light switch attached to the top of the brake pedal. (It will be up under the dash and might be hard to see.) This switch activates the brake lights when the brake pedal moves or allows to move a button on the switch. If the switch gets out of position, the brake lights might not operate properly.
the plastic round stopper most probably broke that is were the stoplight switch sits when not depressed easy fix find a washer small enough to block the hole were the original plastic stopper was making sure the washer aligns to the brake light switch and secure washer w/ zipties hope this helps.
Hi, are the tail lights and the brake lights in the same light unit?
If so, there is a possibility the bulbs are in the wrong way. If it is a stop/tail bulb then there are two locating pegs on the side of the metal part. If you look, one is higher than the other which has to locate into the correct slot in the holder.
Another possibility is the bulb is wrong, there are double and single contacts. Check the contact on the base of the bulb is the same as the contacts in the holder.
