With your front heat working the most likely cause for the rear heat not to work is that there is an obstruction in the line that is preventing the warm coolant to get to the rear heater core or the rear heater core itself is plugged and not circulating. Another possible cause could be low coolant level where the system has enough coolant to provide the front system with enought warm coolant but not the rear system. Hope this helps

SOURCE: have a 2004 Ford Expedition, Heat blows out rear vents and cold air out front, help im freezing

Hello, Check your water hoses from the front heater core by using your hands when the engine has warmed up and running. You need to feel if the water is circulating through this front heater core. If one hose is cold, then the water valve is not opening and you need to determine why. You may have an auxillary heater core for the rear heater that is independent of the front unit.

If the system only has 1 heater core, then the obvious problem is in the ductwork flap activation. The solenoids are called "motors" and one is not opening for you.

There is a procedure for equipment used in the "High-End" Ford products with a Digital Climate Control system. These units are self-diagnosing when a particular activation Code is entered in them. It is accurate, fast, and you need a Codebook for a list of errors. For sure a Dealer has them and many Automotive Air Conditioner Repair places can use the system to diagnose your problem in under 5 minutes.

The problem is location. Only someone with a working knowledge of each vehicle will know where the parts are placed. It is easy to buy the parts and almost all are plug and play without any adjustments. But you don't want dash noises and squeeks after a novice tries to refit the dash.

I often recommend going to a Salvage yard and working on their vehicles to pull parts and understand how a certain vehicle disassembles. It will save you many broken fasteners and sometimes things that are hard to repair can be saved on your own vehicle from this experience.

All my heater vents blow air when heat is on, but only the front gets warm air...all rear vents only blow cold air no matter how you have the heater set...not sure what the problem could be.

there is a diverter valve that lets hot water from the engine into a heater core, which is a device like a small radiator, which heats the air when it flows past. there is probably a second heater core for the rear. the valve for that one, or the switch or relay to control it is bad.

Kia Sedona- center and third row heating vents blowing cold air

This model has a rear heat/cold blend door actuator. Its an electric motor that moves the duct door from hot to cold. When they wear out, they're usually stuck on the last setting

Kia Sedona- center and third row heating vents blowing cold air

There is a separate button on the lower dash labeled RR HTR for the rear heater. If you do not engage the switch it will blow cold air.

My heat works great in the front but the rear vents only blow cold

The blend door actuator is located in the left rear quater panel. It's right there when you remove the trim panel (left side rear) Below is a picture of it when panel is removed along with another picture of the air duct system. I also gave you a picture of the connector at the actuator. Make sure you are geting power and test opening and closing. Worst case you could make the blend door stay to where you are geting heat until you can repair the problem...11_6_2012_12_34_03_am.jpg11_6_2012_12_34_21_am.jpg11_6_2012_12_34_35_am.jpg11_6_2012_12_34_48_am.jpg

No back heat in Expedition, Blows cold air but front works fine

Shelly,

Buy used parts at car-part.com. Look on page with * to find the cheapest part. Coud be your temp blend door (#2) may not be moving back and forth. Or, you are not getting hot water to the rear heater core.

You may have to crawl under the truck and feel the heater hoses to see if they are hot. You will find a group of 4 lines, 2 for heater and 2 for a/c. If hot, you know hot water is getting back to the heater core. If not, there may be a hot water vave that's not working. Not sure if EXP. has a water valve for rear.

Let us know what you you find. Good luck.
