Overheating Mini in Fort Lauderdale.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM HERE at 40k miles. Always as the car is idling at a stop light, the car makes a horrible grinding noise and the temp gauge immediately zooms to the red zone. Car is just out of warranty so told I am responsible for repairs. I have taken the car to the Ft. Lauderdale Mini dealership for service and they can't find any problem. Now I see on the Internet that this is a widespread problem and everyone is describing the same exact symptoms. Why can't they figure out what is going on??

Get ready to fly down to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL area to go vehicle shopping for a 2003/2004 Lincoln Navigator.

Why would you fly anywhere to buy a specific car? All of this time and money invested to buy a ten year old car. You should go on Cars.com or any of the similar sites and search for this car within 50 miles from home. Set up an inspection with a highly recommended mechanic near you. Put the airfare in your gas tank, when you get a car.

REAR ANTI-BLOCK LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME

You mean ABS? If thats the case you need to take your car to a ASE certified mechanic and have them check it. You can take your car to Autozone to have a free test done to see what the exact problem code is. Then they will tell you what you need to have done. However your ABS is essential to your braking as it stops your wheels from locking up and sliding when you brake. However its not mandatory to have it replaced (can be very expensive fix) just be sure to come up slow on stops rather than trying to brake quickly or you could slide right through the stop. I myself have a 99 Chevy Malibu that the ABS (antilock-brake-system) has went out on. I've drove it for close to 40k miles like this and only slid a few times. But I would have it checked out to make sure it's not something more major. Hope this helps:)

2007 Land Cruiser stalls to idle and non responsive to gas pedal

Had exact same problem after driving 120 miles in Florida heat. After 30 minutes started but ran rough for a day and now seem fine. Thought at first fuel filter or dirty gas. Going to replace filter anyway. Is this a common problem?

Service engine soon light comes on 2002 sedan deville. Diagnostics indicate transmission and torgue converter. The transmission runs perfectly and the transmission is new from the factory June 2008. About...

In short, yes they are doing this to generate business.
They also make diagnostics difficult, so we have to take them back for a "plug in" for a high fee.
I have a Peugeot with the same deal & it stinks.

It could be set within the engine management system to time out after a while if you do your own servicing.

Buy an OBD II reader that will connect to your vehicle that should be able to reset this - and tell you of any real problems.

There are many makers of these - so make sure it will work for your make and model, and that it can reset engine lights.

Rough idle

Mercury had a recall on 3.0 duratech motors in 2000 and 2001. If you get a fuel smell at startup then you might have a bad lower intake gasket, it could cause a miss if seal is cracked. Article No. 01-4-3 you can get it on AllData.

Also, check the PC rubber L piece that runs from the PVC valve to under the throttle control - it could be busted.

Make sure ignition wires are not cracked. If you haven't tuned it up in over 30-40K consider doing that.

What does this warning light mean?

you're do for brake service. either the front or rear brake pads have worn down to
minimum. if when you apply the brakes you don't feel pulsation, just replace the brake pads and sensors and that will take care of the light.
