Replace a timing chain on a 2006 hummer h3

That is always pretty involved. You had better find a repair manual for the h3.

Is there more than one thermostate on the 06 H3?

no there is only one thermostat. but it is made into the housing and has to be replaced as a whole. time for this procedure is 2.1 hours. add in the thermostat and new coolant and the price seams resonable

Overheating but fluid is at level. brand new radiator 10,000 miles ago.

I would check the thermostat and make sure it is opening. Usually you could warm up the engine and check that both upper and lower radiator hoses are equally hot. If not, then you most likely need to replace the thermostat.

Where is the thermostat on a 06 hummer H3 is it on the upper hose or lower hose

The thermostat.is on the left side of the engine under the back of the alternator. You have to go through the wheel well to get to it. Stupid place to put it. It's not easy to get to.

Where is the thermostat on a h3 hummer located ?

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine block. The thermostat sits under the housing that the radiator hose connects to. There should three bolts holding down the housing and it's easy to remove.

Heating up

This may be normal, depending on the thermostat installed. They make optional thermostats of various temps. You can probably get a 190 degree thermostat. It will probably not have a significant effect on the engine operation, but may give you some peace of mind.
