Cant remove the tail light assemblies on '09 accord sedan

How do you remove the tail light assemblies on a 2009 Honda accord sedan? Removed all visible bolts - does the rear bumper need to come off?

  • mjkacz Dec 30, 2009

Thanks for the help. Ultimately, the rear bumper cover has to be removed to gain access to two 10 mm bolts for a bracket that is screwed to the tail light to help locate the bumper. To remove the bumper: The mudflap needs to be removed - there are three phillips screw for that, then there is one more phillips screw inside the wheel well that holds the bumper to the quarter panel, then the plastic push pin on the bottom of the bumper is removed, then the cover can be snapped out. Simple once known.

Youll have to pull up very firmly or it may have to slide to the side its held in place by a bodyfastener. a screw that fits into a slot. but i would try pulling up first.

How to replace right rear taillight assembly

Access to the tail light cluster should be through panels in the rear corners of the vehicle. Remove the panel and you can remove the tail light cluster to replace the bulbs. This is the position on most sedans, unless, like on pick-ups, the tail light lenses have screws which allow the lenses to be removed to change the bulbs.

I cant seem to find out how to remove the tail light to replace the bulb. what am i missing?

Typically, the entire tail light assembly has to be released from the inside. So you have to remove trim, inside, for access, usually 3 or 4 thumbscrews get released and the whole thing comes out. This set up is much more watertight than the older method of lense removal.

How do i change the rear brake lamps in a 1992 honda accord lx?

Inside the trunk you will have to pull back the carpet and a the carpet material behind the tail light assembly should have nuts 2-4. once these are removed the assembly can be removed from the outside. Just turn the light socket and replace the bulb.

How do you change a brake light in a 97 accprd?

1. Open the trunk and remove the taillight cover by turning the knob.
2. Determine which of the two bulbs is burned out: tail/stoplight or turn
signal.
3. Remove the socket by turning it one-quarter turn counterclockwise.
4. Remove the burned out bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out of its socket.
5. Install the new bulb in the socket.
6. Reinstall the socket into the light assembly.
7. Test the lights to make sure the new bulb is working.
8. Reinstall the taillight assembly cover.

HOW DO i REPLACE AND REINSTALL A TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR A 09 tOYOTA HIGHLANDER?

I know the procedure for 2004 highlander. It is as follows...
  1. Open the back door to the highlander, remove the plastic compartment cover.
  2. You will expose the nuts and bolts that hold the asssembly to the car.
  3. Remove the nuts - be careful not to drop any inside the cavity.
  4. Once you have all the nuts removed, you can remove the lamps and pull the tail light assembly off.
  5. Put the new assembly on, replace nuts, and reinstall the lamps.

How do change the tail light on a 2007 nissan maxima sedan

I think it is the same as a '04 maxima. Open the trunk, from the inside remove the side trunk liner (by removing the plastic tabs the liner can be pulled back). Once the liner is pulled back you will need to remove two nuts which secure the tail light in place. Once the two nuts are removed you can start pulling the whole tail light assembly out. There are two other tabs that secure the tail light in place which may give you some resistance but the light should come out without too much force once the two nuts are removed.
Once the tail light is out you can change whatever bulbs you need to.
