SOURCE: alarm wont disarm and unlocking doors does not work any suggestions?

I just had the same problem with my 1995.. believe me its a pain! by the way on the driver side below the steering wheel close to the door there should be a hidden pink (or any color) plastic box which basically controlls the cars security system... i removed it and i was good to go...try that... the only thing though is that you wont be able to lock the doors automaticaly, ull have to do it manually

SOURCE: can not disarm alarm on 1997 jeep grand cherokee

This seems to be a common problem with this body style Grand Cherokee. There are 3 ways to disarm the alarm system on this vehicle. You have to unlock the drivers door with the key, unlock the rear liftgate with the key or unlock the vehicle using the keyless entry remote. If none of these three things disarm your system then your problem is most likely the security system module itself. The module is red and located behind the dash on the 92 - 95 model Grand Cherokees. The Dash was redesigned in 1996 for dual airbags and a more streamline appearance. On the 96 - 98 models, I am not sure where this module is located.

SOURCE: how doyou disarm the factory alarm system in a

The security alarm system on the 1994 Jeep Cherokee arms itself on any normal exit from the vehicle, i.e. ignition off, open door, lock door with power door locks, close door. If the doors are locked with the key, it does not arm.
If the battery is disconnected, then reconnected, the alarm system will go into powerup alarm mode. The lights will flash, but the horn will not blow.
The alarms can be disarmed by a keyless vehicle remote or by unlocking either of the front doors or the read lift gate with the key. If the key method does not work with any of those three entrances, there is a problem either with the input to the alarm module or the module itself.
There is a switch in both front doors and the tailgate which is activated by manualy unlocking those doors. The alarms can be disabled by permanently grounding the wire going from either of those switches to the alarm module, but this will remove all theft protection.
The best thing to do is to find out why the system is going off in the first place. It could just be a glitch, a loose connection that can be fixed fairly easily and keep your theft protection intact.

How disable the security systems control 1997 Jeep grand cherokee sport

Hi, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 1997 has a security system called VTSS (Vehicle Theft Security System). The VTSS cannot be disabled as it comes factory installed. What you can do is prevent the VTSS alarm from arming. If you prevent it from arming, you will void it activating. One of the VTSS funcions is to also prevent the engine from starting when the alarm is armed. To disarm the alarm do this. Locate a line colored Violet with a black trace in the Body control module connector. In a suitable place of that line, insert a needle and using a jumper wire touch that needle with an extreme while the other extreme is touching ground. This will disarm the VTSS alarm. When the VTSS is disarmed, the engine will start every time you need it to.

Alarm goes off for no reason. 97 Jeep grand Cherokee.

There is a security system built-in to the Jeep Grand Cherokee during these years. The reason the alarm goes off is because of a change in the electrical system (like shutting a door) that triggers the alarm. To stop the alarm, either disarm with the remote or unlock the door from the outside with the key. This will shutoff the alarm.
