2006 GMC Yukon Denali XL Rear Hatch & Glass locks not working

I have a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali XL that recently started having an intermittent rear hatch door & glass unlocking problem. The only way to lock or unlock and open it is with the remote keyfob, there are no keyed access points on the rear. I got in the back and tried to put pressure on the door to 'unjam' anything that may have gotten jammed and then it worked but less than a day later, it is not working again, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt? Any suggestions. Thanks

Could be the latch mechanism for the door is sticking. You could try using some white grease on the latch and the contact where the latch hooks to. You can purchase the grease from most auto parts stores. You will not need to use alot. Just apply a small amount to the mechanisim and then work it in using the manual handle. Then open and close the door several times to feel the "action". Then apply a little more and repeat. This should loosen the latch and get it working again. Also make sure that none of the tension springs have come loose on the latch. And check the seal around the door and make sure it is not pinched and has a proper fit.

2007 Yukon Denali XL lift glass is opening when I use the fob to open the rear hatch. This causes me to be unable to then close the rear hatch via the fob

This sounds like you have a grounding problem with your hatch circuits. This type of malfunction usually occurs when two systems (the hatch lift and the Lift glass release) are supposed to be sharing the same ground, but one of the systems has a bad connector or a broken wire. It then "activates" the other system by grounding THROUGH the system that it is supposed to be sharing ground with.

What I would do in your case is to take a HARD look at the wires that are in the conduit that runs between the lift gate and the body. These wires flex every time the lift gate is opened and closed, and are prone to breakage.

The way you describe it, it sounds like the lift gate motor is losing contact at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up, and that is when it grabs ground through the glass release solenoid.

Hello-I have an 06 Yukon Denali and the rear door/hatch/gate does not lock. I am told I need to purchase a lock actuator. Any idea where to find one? Thanks, Jon

It should still be able to be locked and unlocked by the key, but if you mean locking by the remote, then the actuator is bad. These can be purchased from a dealership, parts yard, or I prefer to buy from Ebay. If you go to Ebay, just look up 2006 Yukon actuator. You may get a better price also.

Rear hatch will not unlock on my 05 Denali

Check the unlock mechanism for the hatch. These are controlled by an electrical motor pulling a cable. If the cable came loose you might or might not hear the click click that it makes. I would also check the fuses and relays related to the system. Usually if you can get the interior panel off all the innards are exposed. I would suggest pulling that panel off, then triggering the keyless remote and see if anything moves, that might pinpoint where it has gone bad.
