2005 Pacifica lights dashboard gauges etc. started blinking like a crazy light show inside the car. Car stalled & wouldn't start again. We jump started it and it started within minutes of the charge....

My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica dashboard lights are completely black. I was driving along and I applied the brakes and the whole car went black. It didn't shut off but all the lights went out in the inside. I pulled over and turned the headlights off and back on and the radio, temp, and headlights came back on. But the cluster instrument panel (dashboard lights) wont. We have changed the fuses several times and the panel lights up for a couple of hours, but every time we apply the brakes to stop the fuse blows and the panel is back dark. Help me plz, I am a single mother, full worker and full student on a tight budget and I need all the help possible. plz email me at [email protected] if you know whats wrong with my Pacifica.

What type of battery do i need for a 2004 chrysler pacifica

For a general battery seletion guide, I checked Sears.com and came up with this page:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/s_10153_12605_Automotive_Batteries+%26+Chargers_Automotive+Batteries

It showed 6 results for a FWD '04 Chrysler Pacifica - but there's also an AWD option for that vehicle and I'm not sure what type you have.
If that link does not work you can locate the battery selection guide by going to:
Sears.com
and from the left menu selecting in the following order...
Automotive > Batteries & Chargers > Automotive Batteries

'04 Chrysler Pacifica battery won't hold a charge for long. Sometimes it will be fine for months and then not start. Other times it won't last more than a day. I was thinking it must be a parasitic drain...

First try to understand if there is a parasitic drain.

Once you exclude the drain, replace the battery, a battery with shorted cells can cause the drain.

The firmware has nothing to do with drainage, unless the unit is factory defective.

To measure drainage remove ignition key, connect the amp meter between the battery positive wire connector and positive terminal.A couple of milliamps drainage is normal, and is caused by instruments, car stereo memory, ECU etc.
Start removing more fuses , and open the wiring at different points , trying to locate the problem.
Remove the fuses and see if you have drain by connecting a meter to read amps on battery, if you have drain with no fuse, then the problem is insulated to wiring harness before the fuse, with something shorted between the battery and the fuseblock.
Also check car stereo and car amp HU, the HU can keep a unit on when the ignition key is off, causing drain.

I need to replace rear break light (driver side) on pacifica 04

if there aren't any screws on the out side, you'll have to gain access from the trunk.
